Description: Malic acid is a chemical exist in some fruits and wines. It is a dicarboxylic acid that is made by all living organisms. There are 2 forms of Malic Acid, “DL-Malic” Acid and “L-Malic Acid”. But only L-Malic Acid exist naturally. Malic Acid is used to produce medical formulations, or as a flavoring agent to give food a good taste. Malic Acid medicines are usually taken orally.
The salts and esters of Malic Acid are known as Malates. The malate anion is the intermediate for the citric acid cycle.
Function:
1.Pain release and reduce the feeling of tiredness or fibromyalgia. This make it useful in medicine or some health product making.
2.Energy improvement.
3.Food Additive: In foods, Malic Acid is used as a flavoring additive to give food a tart taste.
4. Skin care or protection: Malic Acid is also a common additive to skin care products. It has been used in skin products for its exfoliating ability.
Side Effects:
Although Malic Acid is generally regarded as a very safe and effective supplement, there can be some minor side effects for very few people. It may cause skin redness, muscle pain, nausea, constipation, swollen skin, chest pain or sometimes itching. Although it is annoying, these side effects will disappear after a couple days.
